A MICHELIN Bib Gourmand restaurant serving the Lil’ McFEAST: six ounces of custom house-ground beef, cheddar, shredded lettuce, red onion, dill pickles, and burger sauce on a sesame brioche bun from The Baker’s Table. Chef Michael Cherney’s kitchen is sandwich-driven and hyper-local, which means the burger gets the same attention as everything else on the board.
3. Coast Range
Solvang’s other MICHELIN-recognized restaurant offers the C & R Cheese Burger on the daytime menu, built with farmhouse cheddar, chef sauce, pickled sweet onions, and pickles. A Kids’ Burger Melt keeps smaller diners happy, which makes this one of the easier options for a family that wants a serious meal without a separate negotiation.
4. The Gathering Table
Now settled into the former Succulent Café space in downtown Solvang, The Gathering Table puts a burger on the brunch menu and sliders on the regular one. Both get the farm-fresh, French-technique approach the kitchen is known for, and the sliders are the more interesting order if you are sharing.
5. CHOMP
At Founder’s Square, CHOMP handles the classic version, plus veggie options and a full slate of melts. Fries, shakes, and banana splits follow. The line out front is a regular feature of the corner, and it moves faster than it looks.
6. Big Bopper Drive-In
Big Bopper delivers the drive-in experience the name promises and remains one of the best value orders in town. Order at the window, grab a seat in the outdoor dining area, and know that the kitchen stays open until 8pm.
7. Fitzpatrick’s Tavern
Several burger builds run on the food menu at this Irish pub on First Street, best paired with a pint. It is the most reliable option in the village when the group cannot agree on anything else.
8. Whiskey ‘N Rye Smokehouse
Burgers appear at lunch and dinner alongside the smoked meats that anchor the menu, which means the kitchen already knows what it is doing with fire and beef before your order arrives.
9. Craft House at Corque
A couple of burger options stay on the menu at Craft House, served on a patio that stays busy through the afternoon. Good beer list, easy pace, and a central location that makes it a natural mid-crawl stop.
10. The Bit O’Denmark
Housed in Solvang’s oldest building on Alisal Road, The Bit O’Denmark brings a Danish accent to the format, worth ordering if you want your burger to match the architecture outside. The most on-theme choice on this list, and a genuine only-in-Solvang order. Closed Mondays and Thursdays.
11. The Red Viking
A Solvang institution, The Red Viking includes burgers among its American sandwiches, served in a dining room that has fed visitors for decades. Come for the burger, stay for the Danish specialties on the other half of the menu.

Solvang’s downtown is entirely walkable, so a burger crawl is possible in an afternoon. Midweek visits mean shorter waits and easier tables, and current lodging specials make it easy to turn the trip into an overnight.
